Students in solidarity with farmers

BORO farmers are incurring a huge loss as the procurement process is in total control of the middlemen. Many farmers are struggling to bring harvest home due to the labor shortage. Students from different universities have volunteered their labor and raised voices in support of farmers’ cause. In this context, students share their thoughts with New Age Youth on the agricultural economy

BANGLADESH is predominantly an agricultural country. The peasant is the main driving force of the economic development of a society. However, the amount of money received in exchange for the products and labour of the farmers is such insignificant that is it hard to sustain their lives. Besides, if the prices of the products produced are less than the cost, then the farmers will gradually leave this profession and this will create a crisis of self-sufficiency in our food sector. In recent times, various student organisations have come to the roads to claim the rights of the farmers and in different places scouts are helping farmers to cut paddy. Therefore, different student organisations or youth who are playing an important role in the society through their movement for peasant rights are certainly appropriate. And if the farmers get their rights then they will be encouraged again and interest will be generated, which will play an important role in achieving economic prosperity.
